During recent months the corps and community facilities at Portsmouth Citadel have undergone extensive refurbishment. The Haven café was the final element of the project and has been transformed with new furnishings, logos and evangelical art work all contributing to a brand new look.
Councillor Stephen Wylie was guest of honour recently to formally declare the café reopened. A small group from the corps band played outside and customers old and new joined with staff, volunteers and corps members for a ceremony of dedication.
Haven Community Director David Scarborough introduced Vince Mitchell, newly appointed café manager, and thanked staff and volunteers for their support in transforming the café.
After singing together song 34 (Let us with a gladsome mind), Councillor Wylie highlighted verse 5 and the reminder that it is God’s full hand that supplies our need.
