Portsmouth Citadel Salvation Army is a vibrant Christian church where everyone is made to feel welcome. Worship is at the very heart of what we do at The Salvation Army; our community work is a practical expression of our Christian faith. Our Commanding Officers, Majors Geoff and Liz Chape, lead worship and oversee the work of the Portsmouth Salvation Army. Our Sunday congregation is made up of people of all ages and backgrounds. Morning worship includes a creché for the youngest children and is followed by activities for young people aged 3 to 25 years.
We run regular discovery groups for adults who wish to find out more about the Christian faith and The Salvation Army. Our Sunday evening worship program is varies from week to week, featuring regular bible study, concerts, praise and worship meetings, and social events.
During the week many of the younger members of the church join together for musical rehearsals, our Senior Band and Songsters (choir) also rehearse. There are several adult groups that meet including the Cameo Club (Come And Meet Each Other), MZone (men's group), Girls Allowed (a group for primarily younger women), and the Yellow, Red and Blues group (ladies group). You are sure to find something for you at The Salvation Army.
